Stress management is the controlling and reducing of tension that occurs in stressful situations. Everyone copes with stress everyday. ?I?m SO stressed out!? ? It seems like you hear it all the time from nearly every one you know . Most people are unprepared to deal with stressors that trigger feelings that can make us sick. Literally, sick.

The statistics are staggering. Research conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health has shown that anxiety disorders are the number one mental health problem among American women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse by men. One in every eight Americans age 18-54 suffers from an anxiety disorder. This totals over 19 million people! Anxiety is the most common mental health issue facing adults over the age of 65. Treating anxiety disorders costs the U.S. $46.6 billion annually.

Health Psychology magazine reports that chronic stress can interfere with the normal function of the body?s immune system. And studies have proven that stressed individuals are more vulnerable to allergic, autoimmune, and cardiovascular diseases.

Stress often prompts people to respond in unhealthy ways such as smoking, drinking alcohol, eating poorly, or becoming physically inactive. This causes damage to the mind and body.

There are 3 common types of stress:

Mini-stress ? the annoying hassles of day to day life: ? Heavy traffic ? Cells phones with no power

Moderate-stress ? the more significant day-to-day hassles that comes from deadlines and time pressures constraints ? Project deadline at work ? Holidays

Severe-stress ? those events that are traumatic long term or permanent ? Divorce or separation ? Loss of job

Although there is no definitive answer to any of specific stressor you may experience, it?s your coping skills that support your ability to manage stress.

Here are 7 coping skills to stress proof your life.

1.Know how to relax ? find a quiet place, get comfy make sure your body is well supported. Breath slowly and deeply.

2. Eat right and exercise often ? avoid caffeine and refined sugar, eat dairy products which may improve your mood. Make exercise a part of your daily life-even if it?s only taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking at the far end of the lot.

3. Learn it is OK to say ?no?. Often, many of us feel we have to say ?yes? to everyone, every time we?re asked for help. You can?t be all things to all people. You must first meet your own needs before you can truly give others what they need.

4. Take a mini-vacation from stress. If you can find fifteen minutes a day, or one hour a week if daily isn?t possible, make a date with yourself. Schedule a walk around the block, lunch in the park, a sunrise or sunset alone, a bubble bath without interruptions.

5. Make time for yourself, your number one priority; once your own needs are met you will find you have more time for others. And you may find more pleasure in helping others when you don?t feel that you must always put others needs before your own.

6. Go outside and enjoy Mother Nature. A little sunshine and activity can have amazing ramifications on your stress level and will enhance your entire outlook towards life. Your improved attitude will have a positive effect on everyone. Not only will you be less stressed, you will be healthier, happier, and more energetic; ready to face whatever obstacles come your way.

7. Have a good sense of humor. Be a resource to yourself. Try something new, learn to play again. Laugh. Laughter releases endorphins, chemicals in the brain that restore calm.

Stress management and how you cope with stress is part of your daily life. It?s how you react to stress that makes all the difference in maintaining your health and well-being. Just like causes of stress differ from person to person, what relieves stress is not the same for everyone. You?ll never completely get rid of stress, but you can learn to manage stress with coping techniques that work for you. I hope that I?ve given you some great ideas on how you can deal with stress.

Choosing the right contraception is not always as easy as it may seem. Not every woman can take the birth control pill as it is a very strong medication, and has certain risk factors such as blood clots and infections. Women who smoke or who are obese increase these risk factors.

Taking the birth control pill for decades may also damage a woman?s health overall. Many are advised to switch to a different method when they?re in their 30?s or 40?s, simply as a safety precaution.

Condoms are the only birth control method that protect from sexually transmitted diseases, although some don?t like their use because they interfere with the sensation of sex and some men are adverse to using them.

Methods that don?t involve any type of actual birth control such as the rhythm method or withdrawing before ejaculation are very risky and have a high failure rate. Some women choose these methods because they?re the only ones accepted by their religion or culture, so they need to be used carefully in order to be the most successful.

The bottom line is that there is no one method of contraception that will work for all women equally. Each must decide the best, safest, most effective, and most acceptable method for herself and her partner. In all cases a woman should get her information about contraception and her choice from a doctor so she understand the risk factors, failure rates, and options she may not know about, and so that she can make the most informed decision possible when it comes to her reproductive health.

With Samsung a major sponsor of this summer's London Olympics, you can expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S III everywhere. But what if instead of you seeing the Samsung Galaxy S III thanks to the Olympics, you were seeing the Olympics thanks to the Samsung Galaxy S III? Samsung is offering tickets to the 2012 games to the first 50 owners of the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Only those who have pre-ordered the device are allowed to participate. Oh, did we mention that the first 50 units will be released from Samsung's retail store in the new shopping mall at Westfield Stratford City, London? The Samsung Galaxy S III will be launched there on May 29th at 6pm. And if you're complaining that the store is in London and you don't have the wherewithal to get the ducats, you might as well stop the whining. The Olympics are in London this year so if you can't get there to go to Samsung's store, odds are you can't make it to the games either.

This is my grandfather, Larry and my Grandmother, Bettina, aka La Jolie Grandmere.

This picture was taken in the mid 1960s just after they married and built their home in the South of France.

Larry always looked at my grandmother as if she was the only one in the entire world...

They shared a love, respect and admiration most only dream...

He served our country. He piloted jet planes in the Second World War.?

He lived long enough to have an amazing career as a novelist and Hollywood producer for MGM Studios.

He lived long enough to meet and marry my grandmother later in life.

He was an amazing, adoring and doting husband, step-father and grandfather...

Among a myriad of accomplishments he was an avid tennis player. He played well until his 90s. He was 10 years older than my grandmother. She passed away nearly 10 years ago from a form of Leukemia.?

He passed away a few months later... from, I am quite certain, a broken heart.

Aid workers targeted amid new Pakistan crisis

As attacks increase, aid workers say they must keep safety in mind at all times.?? NBC's Amna Nawaz reports.

NOWSHERA, Pakistan -- There has been little change to the scenes at Jalozai refugee camp in recent years.

Lines of worn and weary wait to register for services, clutching the few belongings they brought with them.?Food rations and hygiene packs are distributed inside large tents and makeshift shelters bearing the brands of various United Nations and non-governmental agencies. And children -- some barely toddlers -- are everywhere you turn: packed into temporary tent schools, running through the labyrinthian "streets" of shelters, and holding their parents' places in various lines.

But the thousands that crowd the camp and the area around it today are different from the masses relocated during Pakistan's military operations of 2008 and 2009 in the country's northwest. They are different than the throngs seeking shelter after the devastating floods of 2010 and 2011. The vast majority of the 300,000 the camp currently supports are all from Khyber Tribal Agency bordering Afghanistan, where ongoing fighting between Pakistan's military and militant groups forced them to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere.

Unlike the previous groups of arrivals, this new group wasn't anticipated in such large numbers. At the height of the influx in mid-March, the camp was registering 5,000 new families a day. That number has slowed to 400 or 500 a day, but the arrivals continue. Resources the agencies thought would last for months, are now running out.

"Of course, everybody planned for an emergency," says?Faiz Muhammed,?chief coordinator of Jalozai camp. "But it was planned for, say 10,000 families, maybe for the rest of the year. We're now using up all those resources that were planned for nine months in just two months."

Aid workers say they are concerned that the coming monsoon season may prove devastating for millions of people in Pakistan.

Aine Fay, chairperson of the Pakistan Humanitarian Forum (PHF)-- an informal network of 47 NGOs operating in Pakistan, says the funding situation is dire: less than 3 percent of the required budget to respond to the needs of internally displaced people is available.

"Agencies will run out of money by the end of June if the donor community don't respond," says Fay. "And we're facing into the monsoons of 2012. While we all hope that there will not be a repeat of the floods of 2011 or 2010, we have no guarantee and we have to be prepared for them."

'We're worried'
Robin Lodge, of the World Food Programme (WFP) -- the sole food provider for the Jalozai families -- says the agency has already had to cut back rations to deal with the funding shortage.

"Funding is not too good," says Lodge. "We're worried about the monsoon season because that will put an additional strain on resources."

As the need for their services grows, aid and relief workers are also having to contend with increased insecurity across the country, as they more frequently become targets for kidnapping -- a common means of fundraising for many militant and criminal groups.

Since 2009, according to numbers compiled by PHF, at least 23 aid and development workers -- foreign and Pakistani staff -- have been kidnapped. Eighteen have been killed.

In 2009, eight staff members of two humanitarian organizations in the northwest Khyber-Pakhtunkwa (KPK) province were shot dead in two separate targeted attacks on their office. In 2010, six staff members of one agency were killed in an attack in KPK, and four other staff members were abducted and one was murdered in Balochistan. In 2011, 14 staff from two different organizations were abducted in separate incidents in Balochistan.

So far this year, five humanitarian workers have been abducted and four have been murdered in Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab provinces.

Recently released video of American Warren Weinstein -- kidnapped from his Lahore home in August 2010 -- made headlines as the first sign of life since he was taken. The brutal April murder of Dr. Khalil Dale, a British aid worker with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Balochistan, again brought to the forefront the growing insecurity faced by relief workers in Pakistan.

An American aid worker kidnapped last summer in Pakistan resurfaced Monday morning in a video message released by al-Qaida. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

In response, the ICRC suspended its projects across much of the country as it reassesses its operations, placing local staffers on paid leave and bringing foreign staffers back from the field into Islamabad. This is the first time the agency has suspended operations in Pakistan since it began working here in 1947.

Local, national staff in particular are targeted here -- more visible and more frequently spending time on projects in their own communities than their foreign colleagues who visit sites from time to time. A fake vaccination program carried out by the CIA using local staff in the lead-up to the Osama bin Laden raid created additional problems for local humanitarian workers, leading to suspicion among communities as to aid organizations' true intentions.

Pakistan jails doctor who helped CIA find bin Laden

In February, InterAction -- the largest alliance of U.S.-based international NGOs -- sent a letter to CIA director David Petraeus expressing concern that activities like the vaccination program undermined humanitarian efforts in Pakistan and jeopardized the lives of their staff.

"The CIA's use of the cover of humanitarian activity casts doubt on the intentions and integrity of all humanitarian actors in Pakistan," wrote Samuel Worthington, InterAction's president. "It is imperative that independent, impartial humanitarian action be kept clearly distinct from intelligence-gathering activities. Any blurring of the two risks causing setbacks in decades-long global health and humanitarian efforts and endangers the lives of those working to make advances on the behalf of the global community."

Aid workers from multiple organizations told NBC News that security has always been a part of their planning in Pakistan, but re-assessments and operational re-adjustments have been necessary in recent years as the kidnappings and violence have increased.

"I think for a lot of organizations, we would measure the vulnerability that communities are at -- the need for the services that we can provide -- versus the risk we think our staff are exposed to," says Fay. "If the risk is greater than the need on the ground, the answer is simple."

Humanitarian workers in Pakistan with whom we spoke, most who wished to remain anonymous, all maintain that despite the risk and the resources they must now divert from aid delivery to security considerations, their priorities remain the same.

"We have had to look at things more carefully, scale up in certain areas of security, re-evaluate," says Stacey Winston, with the UN's office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. "We try to keep security a priority and also to maintain operations as much as possible, because that is really the priority -- to reach as many people as quickly as possible in the humanitarian response."

Developed in partnership with local Norfolk State University?s Creative Gaming and Simulation group, the game requires players to learn about money matters to help a character named $teve avert financial disaster.
$ave $teve can be played at child, teen, and adult levels. Links to unbiased financial information give players the knowledge to help $teve overcome financial pitfalls. Library Journal noted Blanton?s drive to innovate at CPL. ?Most recently, Blanton?s ?Scanversations?
