International Women's Day Seattle 2012 ? Miss A?

International Women?s Day is coming up on March 8th.? First recognized nationally in 1909, International Women?s Day (IWD) is a celebration of education and women?s empowerment and achievements around the world, namely our strides in the economic, social, cultural and political spheres. Last year, President Obama proclaimed March ?Women?s History Month?, designating the month a time to reflect on ?the extraordinary accomplishments of women? in shaping the country?s history.

Every IWD has a theme designated by the UN and this years is, ?Empower Women-End Hunger and Poverty.? On March 10th, ACRS is hosting a Seattle event where you will find workshops and speakers, entertainment, children?s activities,? refreshments, literature tables and the Grassroots Activists Award Dinner in the evening. Traditional garb is encouraged, so don your culturally-specific attire (a long, wool, Irish dress in my case) and come pay homage to the xx chromosome.

WHEN: Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 2 ? 8 p.m. Awards Dinner to start at 6 p.m.

WHERE:

ACRS Building
3639 Martin Luther King Blvd S
Seattle, WA 98144
